We need to inform you of a change to your monthly data allowance ‘start/end date’ implemented today by the Satellite Operator in order to improve the overall consistency, quality and speed of your i-SURF Satellite Broadband service. The details below explain the change and how they will impact upon you.

Why Change?
Until now, all monthly data allowances were reset on the first day of the month. Whilst easily remembered, this has caused heavier usage at the start of the month and has meant an increased possibility of network congestion. If not addressed, this could start to result in lower Internet access speeds for customers.
What is the Change?
From, today, 1st February 2016, your data allowance month start / end date will change to become the anniversary date of your installation. For example, if your service was installed on 24th December 2015, then your monthly start/end date will now change to the 24th day of each month. This means that the start date for the current usage month, in this example, would become the 24th January 2016.
Ensuring fairness during transition
To ensure that you don’t lose out on any of your data allowance during the transition period, free top-up boosters will be applied to some customer accounts, as required, to off-set any January over usage being carried forward to your new monthly billing period.

This means that today, (inc. of any applied free boosters) everyone started, fairly, with the same ‘pro-rata’ data usage allowance, appropriate to the number of days left until their newly set, February, month end date.

Worked example for a customer installed on 24th December 2015.

  • New Month Start / End Date: Will be the 24th of each month backdated to the 24th January 2016.
  • Top-up boosters: Will be applied, if required, to offset any applicable overuse since January 24th
  • Allowance to 24th Feb: Will, today, be set to a 24 day ‘pro-rata’ balance (inc. any required boosters)
  • February – March Period: Will commence on the 24th Feb and end at Midnight on the 23rd March 2016

 
Will my Billing Date Change?
No, there will be no change to your billing date and all billing activity will continue as normal.

Is there anything that I need to do right now?
You do not need to do anything, however, we would suggest that you to check your usage allowance today or tomorrow to familiarise yourself with your new monthly start and end date (see the instructions below).
 
How can I check my Usage Allowance Balance and my New Start End Date?
You can view your new monthly data allowance, current usage and any top up boosters applied to your account at any time on the Customer Portal at http://portal.i-surf.co.za.   From today, the Customer Portal will show your new monthly data allowance period, as well as any free top-up boosters applied to your account to ‘normalise’ your January usage.
